Paintback - Graingers Road, West Footscray

Paintback is proposing to develop a paint recycling facility at 2 & 40-44 Graingers Road, West Footscray.

The site is currently occupied by Wattyl Paints, running the length of Graingers Road and Stradbroke Street in West Footscray. The part of the site which is the subject of this application is towards the south-west part of the site, partially abutting Darwin Street. 

The proposal includes the following: 

  • Use of the land for Industry (paint recovery facility) 
  • The proposed hours of operation would be 7am to 11pm, Monday to Saturday 
  • 17 staff would be employed
  • Car parking is generally maintained from the existing industrial use with 15 car parking spaces provided 
  • Vehicle loading would be via Stradbroke Street to Graingers Road
  • Minor buildings and works are proposed, including a roller shutter, gate and stairs. 

The application was advertised during June/July 2023 with over 110 objections received.

Planning Forum Rescheduled

The Planning Forum will be held on Wednesday 4 October 2023, 6 – 7.30pm. Your attendance and questions are to be submitted through the form below before 4pm on Monday 2 October. Council will accept RSVP's until lunchtime Wednesday 4 October 2023 after which time the link to the forum will be sent.

What is the purpose of the Planning Forum

The purpose of the Planning Forum is to provide an informal atmosphere in which an application can be presented and discussed in the presence of the applicants, objectors, Council’s Planning Officer and Councillors with an aim to fully understand the application and to explore any resolution of concerns (if possible).

A decision will not be made at the Planning Forum. A full assessment of the application will be made after the Forum with a recommendation then be presented at a City Development Delegated Committee (CDDC), which consists of the Mayor and all Councillors. All objectors, submitters and the permit applicant will be notified of the meeting date and be invited along.
