Phoenix Youth Centre has rooms available that can be hired by young people or by organisations for the benefit of young people aged 12 to 25 who live, work, study, or recreate in the City.

Auditorium

Suitable for larger meetings and forums, dance, theatre and music events and rehearsals.

Features

The Auditorium features include:

  • projector and large screening wall
  • modular stage
  • professional lighting rig
  • large mirrored wall (with blinds covering)
  • external entrance and foyer
  • kitchenette access
  • seating/tables
  • performance and sound equipment available for hire at extra charge.

Room dimensions: 10.6 x 12.5metres

Stage dimensions: 361 x 481 x 60cm

Buckley Street Meeting Room

Small meeting/counselling room or workspace located next to the main entrance off the multispace. Only available during centre opening hours.

Features

The Buckley Street Meeting Room features include:

  • tables and chairs that can be set to any configuration
  • two armchairs
  • coffee table.

Bunker

The Bunker (named as it was originally built as an Air Raid Bunker in World War II) is a windowless and soundproof space perfect for small music events or rehearsals, film screening, meetings and events.

Features

The Bunker features include:

  • projector, large screening wall
  • soundproof
  • external Entrance and foyer
  • kitchenette access
  • chairs and tables available
  • performance and sound equipment available for hire at extra charge.

Bunker Recording Space

A small space specifically for recording and editing music.

Note: only young people who have been trained to use recording equipment are permitted to hire this space.

  • soundproofed vocal booth
  • small foyer space with computer for editing

Phoenix Gallery/Lounge

Large multipurpose space that connects all spaces at Phoenix Youth Centre.

During business hours, the Gallery/Lounge space is unable to be used exclusively.

Features

The Gallery/Lounge space features include:

  • reception area
  • kitchenette space with bar fridge, sink, microwave, and dishwasher
  • Phoenix Gallery – hanging/ projection art space for exhibitions
  • booth seating with desks for quiet group/workspace
  • couches
  • armchairs.

Kitchen/Multi-purpose space

Suitable for cooking activities, arts activities, dinners, group activities, break out area.

Young Start Up Membership

Young Start Up is a program for young people who are starting their own business for profit aged between 12-25 years who live, work, study, or have other connections to the City of Maribyrnong. 

The membership will allow young entrepreneurs to:

  • Hire a variety of spaces at Phoenix Youth Centre form quiet working spaces to large and flexible creative spaces.
  • Use space until 10pm nightly, 7 days a week
  • Subsidised cost of $10 per day
