Jack's Magazine Reserve, 12 Van Ness Avenue, Maribyrnong
Three of the existing buildings within the Jack’s Magazine Reserve are proposed to be used for functions, including sale and consumption of liquor under an on-premise license.
Jack’s Magazine is a complex formerly used to store gunpowder, and is included in the Victorian Heritage Register. Buildings 2, 3, 4 are proposed to be used for functions, with a focus on weddings and wedding receptions.
Details of the proposal include:
- Events with a maximum of 200 patrons.
- Proposed hours between 8am – 11pm between Thursday to Saturday, and 8am – 6pm Monday to Wednesday and Sunday.
- Electric mini-buses to transport patrons to the venue from adjacent car parking areas.
- A reduction in the rate of car parking provision.
- Internal works to the buildings approved by Heritage Victoria.

Planning Forum
The Planning Forum will be held on Wednesday 18 October 2023, 6pm – 7pm. Your attendance and questions are to be submitted through the form below before 4pm on Monday 16 October. Council will accept RSVP's until lunchtime Wednesday 18 October 2023 after which time the link to the forum will be sent.
What is the purpose of the Planning Forum?
The purpose of the Planning Forum is to provide an informal atmosphere in which an application can be presented and discussed in the presence of the applicants, objectors, Council’s Planning Officer and Councillors with an aim to fully understand the application and to explore any resolution of concerns (if possible).
A decision will not be made at the Planning Forum. A full assessment of the application will be made after the Forum with a recommendation then presented at a City Development Delegated Committee (CDDC), which consists of the Mayor and all Councillors. All objectors, submitters and the permit applicant will be notified of the meeting date and be invited along.
