Council is constructing a new splash park and waterslides at Maribyrnong Aquatic Centre (MAC).

Allmore Constructions Pty Ltd has been appointed as the contractor to carry out the works on behalf of Council, which will include the installation of:

  • a new 400 square metre splash park with two waterslides and change rooms
  • new site sheds and fencing along the eastern side of the Centre that borders Maribyrnong Secondary College

How the works will impact locals

Contractors will be on site weekdays between 7am-5pm to undertake the works and they will enter the site from the southern side of the Centre via the car park, near Robert Barrett Reserve.

The works are taking place on the eastern side of the Centre, between the car park, the western side of Maribyrnong College and Robert Barrett Reserve, and this area will be fenced off to the public for the duration of the works. You may notice some noise and dust from the site during the works, however the contractor will do their best to minimise this.

At different times during the construction there will be trucks entering and exiting the site from the southern side of the Centre via the car park, near Robert Barrett Reserve. Traffic controllers will be on site to manage the traffic flow to ensure pedestrian and contractor safety, and signage will also be in place to support safe travel in the area.

All truck movements will be limited between 8.30-9.30am and 3-4.30pm to minimise the impact on Centre users and the nearby College. Cranes will also be required for the erection of slides and support beams later on in the works, and we’ll update this page closer to the time with further information about the impacts.

The footpath along the eastern side of the Centre near the College will be closed off during the works to support the installation of the new splash park. An alternate footpath will be available along the western side of the Centre, near the entrance, and signage will be in place to support safe pedestrian travel around the area.

The Maribyrnong Aquatic Centre Splash Park and Waterslides project is jointly funded by the Victorian State Government.
