Sleepless Installations
As part of the Sleepless Footscray Festival, hidden alleys will transform into inviting nightscapes and unused buildings reimagined as creative hubs of art and performance.
Below you will find some of the installations on offer during the festival, all of which are free!
Machine Dreams by Nick Clark
When: 6pm -11pm, every day during the festival
Where: Sleepless Community Arts Hub, 58 Irving Street, Footscray
Can machines inspire? Machine Dreams combines artificial intelligence, generative soundscapes, poetry, and dynamic lighting into an immersive installation that challenges participants to reconsider their creative and emotional connections with machines.
Lady Mohawk: Perhaps It'll Be The Death of Me
When: Saturday 18 may, 4pm (24-hour performance)
Where: Shop 25 Metro West. 47 Paisley Street, Footscray
Witness innovation in performance art from Lady Mohawk. An abandoned shop front becomes a 24-hour canvas for the artist's life.
Null Sum - by Blake Dearman
When: 6pm - 11pm, every day during the festival
Where: Metro West, 47 Paisley Street, Footscray
This multi-channel video uses a combination of handmade and artificially-generated imagery (AI), together with photogrammetry and data visualisation.
Everyday Alchemy by Natalie Blom
When: 6pm - 11pm, every day during the festival
Where: Metro West, 47 Paisley Street, Footscray
Natalie Blom's Everyday Alchemy x Sleepless Footscray presents experimental analogue photography, created using household items along with Phở broth and Maribyrnong water, and other materials typified as of the West.
Scent Pod by Smell Art Installation
When: 6pm - 11pm, every day during the festival
Where: Metro West, 47 Paisley Street, Footscray
Crafted by local artist Erin Adams of Smell Art, "Scent Pod" showcases handmade giant origami seed pods that release the joyous scent of lemon-scented eucalyptus, distilled from trees here in Footscray.
