Loving Lilardia is an artwork by Bitja (Dixon Patten), a Yorta Yorta, Gunnai, Gunditjmara and Dhudhuroa / Jaithmathang artist and graphic designer.
Bitja’s practice is guided by his many bloodlines and communities throughout South-eastern Australia that have embdedded his familial knowledge, artistic processes, social and cultural values, and deep connection.
Margaret Tucker MBE(C) – for whom this park is named – was born Lilardia, which translates to "flower." Known to many as Aunty Marge, she dedicated her life to social activism, advocating for the rights of Indigenous people and women of every creed. This artwork honours her unwavering compassion, determination, strength, resilience and legacy.
