Gender Equality
Maribyrnong City Council has a long-standing commitment to gender equity and preventing of violence against women. As the level of government closest to the community, Victorian Councils have a mandate to create healthy, safe and inclusive.
The Victorian Gender Equality Act 2020 requires local government to take positive action towards achieving workplace gender equality by promoting gender equality in our policies, programs and service. We do this via a number of mechanisms such as the delivery of quality programs, promotional opportunities and forging effective partnerships.
In March 2022, Council submitted its Gender Equality Action Plan 2022-2025 to the Commission for Gender Equality in the Public Sector. This is a requirement for local governments under the Victorian Gender Equality Act 2020. Council is pleased to share our Gender Equality Action Plan 2022-2025.
