Pay your rates

Rates are paid in four instalments:

  • 30 September
  • 30 November
  • 28 February
  • 31 May

You can pay the whole amount of rates and charges in one payment if you choose to do so by same due date as first instalment (30 September).

Set up direct debit

Direct debit payments can now be made monthly, quarterly or annually to be paid automatically from your nominated bank account. Complete an application form and submit to Council.

Please note the transfer dates:

Annual payments - 30 September or the next business day.

Quarterly payments - instalment due dates or the next business day.

Monthly payments - first business day of each month.

For monthly payments, contact us to discuss how much the monthly payment would be for you.

Payments will be electronically transferred from your nominated bank account. Payments can only be deducted from a cheque or savings account. Make sure you have adequate funds on transfer dates.

In person at Council Offices

Present your rates notice to our Customer Service team located at Footscray Library, 56 Paisley Street, Footscray (view map) between the hours of 10am and 5pm, Monday to Friday excepting public holidays.

BPay

Contact your participating bank, credit union or building society to arrange payment directly from your cheque or savings account.

You will be required to enter the Biller Code and the BPAY reference number as shown on the front of your rates notice.

Pay in person at any post office, or

phone 13 18 16 to pay with your Visa or MasteCard

Your rates notice can be posted with a cheque or money order payable to:

Pensioner rebate

If you hold a pensioner concession card or a Veteran Affairs card, you are eligible to receive a rebate on your rates.

Difficulties paying rates

Please contact us immediately. We may be able to negotiate your repayment arrangements before you miss a payment.

 

Financial Hardship

Contact Council if you are experiencing difficulty paying your rates. A payment plan can be arranged which takes into consideration your financial position.
