Local residents can now access affordable and high quality solar and battery systems through our Solar Savers program, including options for both owners and renters.

The program helps you to reduce your energy bills and future proof against increasing energy costs, while reducing your carbon footprint at the same time.

By joining the program, you can access advice from secure and trusted solar experts to install an affordable and long lasting solar PV system for your home.

The program includes options for low-interest loans to help cover up-front costs, and Solar Savers participants may also be eligible for the new Victorian Government Solar Rebate. To find out more, visit the link at the bottom of the page.

Solar Savers for homeowners

Local homeowners are eligible for the program if;

  • They live in Maribyrnong City Council
  • They own the property
  • They do not already have solar panels installed on the home.

Solar Savers for renters

Local renters may be eligible for the program if;

  • They live in Maribyrnong City Council
  • They do not already have solar panels on the property
  • The household has an annual income below $180,000 .

How it works

  1. Visit the Solar Savers website to register your interest in the program.
  2. Select if you are a home owner or a renter
  3. We will check that you are eligible for the program through some simple questions about your home, roof, and electricity use.
  4. We connect you with trusted installers who discuss the different options available to you.
  5. Should you choose to proceed, you can review a quote and pay a deposit.
  6. The installer will then guide you through the process from the very beginning until your new Solar PV system is installed

Solar for Apartments Program

Solar Victoria is pleased to announce that the Solar for Apartments program is now open for applications from eligible owners’ corporations. The $16m program is jointly funded between the Victorian and Commonwealth Governments and will provide rebates of up to $2800 to install rooftop solar to benefit up to 5,000 apartments.  

Successful applicants are eligible for funding of up to $2,800 per apartment. The maximum funding amount is $140,000 for buildings of up to 50 apartments. The Solar for Apartments program will make it easier for apartment buildings to go solar by removing existing barriers for installing solar and providing a pathway for solar retailers to provide apartment residents safe and effective solar technologies.

Round 1 applications are open from February 13th until April 15th, 2024, with further rounds to follow.
