Rapid Antigen Tests Update

The state government has informed all Victorian councils that the free Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) distribution program will stop once the current Council supplies are used up. Maribyrnong Libraries are now out of stock.

During the program, Maribyrnong Libraries provided nearly 70,000 free rapid antigen tests to the local community and distributed the tests at 28 outreach pop-ups, allowing the library to connect with the community and provide this important resource.

Since starting in October 2022, Victorian councils have handed out more than 4 million rapid antigen tests (RATs) to their communities. Providing free RATs has been vital in ensuring people can easily access fast testing to keep themselves, their families, and their communities safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Where to buy Rapid Antigen Tests

You can buy Rapid Antigen Tests at supermarkets, pharmacies, and other retailers. Please plan ahead by keeping some kits at home for testing if you have COVID-19 symptoms.

PCR testing

To undertake a PCR test you need to consult with your health care provider for a referral to a private pathology provider.
