Garage Sale Trail

Garage Sale Trail is one of a number of Council initiatives designed to reduce waste to landfill and provide the community with ways to reuse unwanted items. For shoppers, it is a great opportunity to pick up a bargain and find something unique, all whilst doing your bit for the environment.

In 2023 Maribyrnong hosted 68 stalls and collectively made participants over $21,000! Thanks to the over 2,100 participants in our area we were able to divert 31,960kg of items from landfill.

The date for this year's Garage Sale Trail has been set! 

Weekend 1: Saturday 9 November and Sunday 10 November, 2024
Weekend 2: Saturday 16 November and Sunday 17 November, 2024

Host a garage sale online, or get your school, community group, unit block or whole street involved. Second-hand is not only great for the planet and your pocket, it’s safe too.

Already decluttered or got enough stuff? Fear not, you can still get involved. There are a series of online masterclasses with some of Australia’s most stylish sustainability experts, giving you the chance to learn how to style and mend second-hand items to give them a brand new life.
