Pursuant to sections 207A and 223 of the Local Government Act 1989 (Act) and acting under clause 9 of schedule 11 to the Act, Maribyrnong City Council gives notice of the proposal to close part of Market Street, West Footscray, between Shorten and Barrett Reserves, shown hatched on the plan below (Road):

The proposal involves closing the Road to vehicular traffic and constructing the closed road into an open space reserve allowing access to bicycles and pedestrians (Proposal). The Proposal will allow vehicle traffic through the south section of the Road for access to the Shorten Reserve car park.

In accordance with section 223 of Act, any person wishing to make a submission on the Proposal must do so in writing to the Manager Engineering Services before the expiration of the submission period below.

How to Make a Written Submission

Persons making submissions may request to be heard in support of their submissions. Any request to be heard must be clearly stated within the written submission. Any person requesting to be heard is entitled to appear in person or by a person acting on their behalf before a committee appointed consisting of the whole of Council. Hearing of any submissions is to occur on 6 May 2025 at 6:30pm. All submissions will be considered in accordance with section 223 of the Act. Following the consideration of any submissions, Council will decide whether or not to proceed with the Proposal.

Submissions must be addressed to the Manager Engineering Services and emailed to governance@maribyrnong.vic.gov.au or posted to City of Maribyrnong, P.O. Box 58 West Footscray 3012 or delivered to the Municipal Offices, Cnr of Hyde and Napier Street, Footscray.

Submissions received will be included within the official Council Agendas and Minutes, including personal information about the submitter’s identity and location. Agendas and Minutes are made available to the public and on Council's website. If you do not wish to be identified in Agendas and Minutes, please indicate this in your submission.

Submission Period: 26 February 2025 to 26 March 2025.
