At the Yarraville Gardens Precinct you'll find pristine flowering garden beds, public barbecue facilities including picnic tables, public toilets, outdoor stage and sealed paths.  Ideal to sit and read a book or just take in the beautiful natural surrounds.

Designated dog off-lead areas

Barbara Beyer Reserve

The Barbara Beyer Reserve located within Yarraville Gardens on the corner of Whitehall and Harris Streets is a designated dogs off-lead area at all times.

Greelish Oval (lower oval)

Greelish Oval on the corner of Whitehall Street and Somerville Road is a designated dogs off-lead area at all times except from 10am to 6pm on Saturdays and Sundays from 1 November to 30 April each year.  During sporting activities or events on Greelish Oval dogs must be on a lead.

Except for the Barbara Beyer Reserve and Greelish Oval (see above exceptions) dogs must be on a lead in all other areas of the Yarraville Gardens.

Dogs are not permitted to be in the playground area.  It is the responsibility of dog owners/handlers to ensure that dogs, when off-lead, remain at a distance of at least 30 metres from the playground area at all times.

Penalties will apply to any dog owner/handler found to be in breach of the above provisions.

Responsible pet ownership and legislation

Council encourages all pet owners to be responsible pet owners particularly when in public spaces.

Special feature

Commissioned in 1913, the James Cuming memorial statue is the work of a well known artist of the time, Margaret Baskerville.

The memorial statue was erected in 1916 on Napier Street before being relocated to Cuming Reserve in the 1960s.

In 2001 the memorial statue underwent restoration works before finding its current permanent place in Yarraville Gardens.
