A band new day - West Set to return this October
Published on 16 September 2022
West Set – a rolling program of live music staged in the heart of Footscray – will return in October.
With a mix of free and ticketed performances, audiences can enjoy a cross genre mix of live music performances: Ethio and Latin Jazz at a new pop up venue at the Footscray Library forecourt, world-class DJs, pop acts ‘On The Green’ at Railway Reserve next to Footscray Train Station, and big band and funk sounds programmed across local emerging venues dedicated to live music.
The program aims to be inclusive with all ages sessions to late night licensed gigs, and delicious food offerings from our local multicultural traders.
West Set will take place from Friday 14 October to Sunday 30 October.
Mayor Cr Anthony Tran is excited to see the return of West Set after it was cancelled last year because of COVID-19 restrictions.
“I’m delighted to welcome back this much-loved music festival to the City of Maribyrnong. Our talented musicians and unique live music venues truly get to shine during West Set.
If you haven’t had the chance to check out the live music scene in the West yet – this year’s West Set line-up brings something for everyone (big and little kids included). Be sure to mark it in your calendar in October and get out there to support our local artists and venues.”
Council acknowledges the support of the State Government’s ‘On The Road Again’ initiative which means we can make this festival free and accessible.
The $5 million dollar government program supports live music events in regional and outer suburban areas.
