Kingsville Tennis Club recently received upgrades, with the reconstruction of two courts.

The upgraded courts will serve the local tennis community, including local competitions and tournaments, social activities and community programs.

Prior to reconstruction, the two courts were unsafe and near unplayable. They have now been completely reconstructed and resurfaced with brand new synthetic grass, new boundary fencing and pedestrian path.

Kingsville Tennis Club President, Marg Lind, said “the reconstruction of courts 5 and 6 at Kingsville Tennis Club is an exciting update at the club and will complement our state of the art clubhouse that opened in 2019.”

“Despite the challenges of COVID-19, the promise of new courts has already resulted in a membership boom with the bright blue TigerTurf courts attracting a swathe of new members eager to try out the facilities. The new courts mean an expansion of our competition participation with the ability to host more women’s and men’s teams whilst still being able to offer coaching and social programs for the community and for club members. We are full of gratitude towards the team at Maribyrnong City Council and are extremely thankful and proud of our fantastic tennis club!”

These court upgrades follow the construction of the new Kingsville Tennis Pavilion last year, which included updated player and member amenities, a large social space for functions and club activities and a large undercover outdoor viewing area for spectators. The amenities also feature new paths and improved lighting, ensuring the area is safe, accessible and functional for local competitions and community programs.

Message from the Mayor, Cr Sarah Carter

"Community sport is a great way for residents to be part of their local community and to look after their health and wellbeing, and we look forward to seeing the entire community enjoy the new, safe and accessible facilities for both social and competitive activities."
