The banks of the Maribyrnong River will be the place to be on Sunday afternoons with the introduction of free live music performances on the deck at the Footscray Rowing Club.

The Deck out West launches this month with sessions from 12 February to 19 March.

Music lovers near and far will be able to enjoy live sunset music performances and tasty treats from local food trucks with sweeping views across the Maribyrnong River to Melbourne’s CBD, as part of the free pop-up program.

The performance line-up will feature both established and emerging contemporary artists from across Melbourne, including artists from VU’s Music Agency, varying week to week.

Hear eclectic indie sounds from Hayley Mary, Australian singer-songwriter and previous lead singer of The Jezabels; foot-tapping country tunes from Andy Golledge; energising tracks from Horns and Leroy, one of Australia’s premier brass bands; and much more!

The Deck Out West is a Footscray University Town initiative, developed through a collaboration between Maribyrnong City Council and Victoria University, and produced by creative agency The Background.

This initiative will provide professional development opportunities for VU students in event management internships, paid event roles for hospitality students and exposure for VU Music Agency artists.
