Solar support for local businesses
Published on 11 June 2021
Small businesses across the City of Maribyrnong now have access to safe, quality and affordable solar panels through the Solar for Business Program.
Delivered by Solar Victoria, the program supports small businesses across Victoria by providing access to renewable energy – helping them reduce their energy costs and their climate impact at the same time.
Eligible small businesses will be provided with a rebate that covers up to 50 per cent of the cost of an approved small-scale solar PV system up to 30kW, with a maximum rebate of $3,500.
With a solar system, the energy you create is used by your business before any excess is fed back into the electricity grid meaning that by using your own solar electricity, you can substantially cut your energy bills.
To be eligible for the program, small businesses must operate from premises that are non-residential, have not previously received a Solar for Business rebate and be the owner of a business that employs at least one person, not including the business owner, and less than 20 people. Visit the Solar Victoria website for a full list of eligibility requirements.
Solar Victoria are providing 15,000 solar PV rebates over the next three years.

Message from the Mayor, Cr Michael Clarke
The Solar for Business program gives eligible small businesses in our community support to access clean energy that helps minimise their impact on the environment while reducing their energy bills.
This is a wonderful initiative and I encourage small businesses across the City of Maribyrnong to explore the opportunity.
