Re-sheeting of Rosamond Road in the suburb of Maribyrnong will commence in February 2024, with Council awarding the contract for the works at the December Council Meeting.

These works, which are part of Council’s Distributor Road Improvement Project, will improve and restore the condition of the road pavement, extending the life expectancy of this high traffic road while making it safer for road users.

The like for like re-sheeting of Rosamond Road, between Ballarat Road and Raleigh Street, is proceeding in line with Council’s commitment in the 2023/24 Budget and further endorsed by  Council at its October Meeting.

Mayor, Cr Cuc Lam, said it was important for Council to get the Rosamond Road works completed as a matter of priority to ensure the safety of our residents.

“Rosamond Road is one of our main arterial roads, and with heavy traffic use and increasing wet weather, over time a number of cracks and potholes have begun to appear. If these are left alone, it will lead to further deterioration of the road surface increasing risks to all road users,” Mayor Lam said.

Additional traffic calming measures along Rosamond Road are also being considered as part of the delivery of the re-sheeting work, while we also review and update the Integrated Transport Strategy to support future engagement with the community on a practical north-south cycling corridor.

“For us to be able to deliver on our overall commitment to safe cycling and integrate cycling lanes within our existing networks successfully, we need to ensure our community is part of these conversations. I look forward to engaging with our community on the Integrated Transport Strategy and the north-south cycling corridor in 2024,” Mayor Lam continued.

Information about the Rosamond Road works and potential detours will be shared with local residents in advance of the works starting.
