Celebrate New Year’s Eve with family and friends at the annual fireworks spectacular held by the City of Maribyrnong at Footscray Park, 31 December from 6.30pm.

Now in its seventh year, New Year’s Eve at Footscray Park has grown to become one of Melbourne’s most treasured events.

The fun starts early for youngsters with a range of carnival rides, games, food and free live entertainment to enjoy!

Watch the sun go down and the fireworks light up (nice and early at 9.30pm) making this event ideal for families who want to avoid a late night and huge city crowds.

This year’s line-up begins with children’s entertainer Peter Combe and local group Dance Habit, followed by Olympia - an Aria award nominated singer songwriter. Jazz Party, an eight-piece powerhouse band, will make sure you are up and dancing! After the fireworks, Digital Afrika will take to the stage to dig deep into the depths of African rhythms and melodies.

So get the family together and pack a picnic or enjoy a snack from one of the 24 food trucks on site. Bring a refillable bottle to make use of the drinkable water provided on site, (this is a single use plastic free event) and the community is urged to bring re-useable containers to reduce the impact on the environment.

Although we know dogs are part of the family, the fireworks can give pooches a scare and so we recommend that they stay safely at home.

Please note: This is an alcohol free event and we encourage arrival via public transport. Accessible parking is available on site via Maribyrnong Blvd. Please call Maribyrnong City Council for more information.

Message from the Mayor, Cr Sarah Carter

The families from across the West and inner suburbs flock to this annual fireworks spectacular that brings a look of amazement to the faces of the children seeing the sky light up. It’s always such a relaxed event, with a real sense of welcome and community. Picnic blankets are spread across the park, there’s always bubbles blown and chased by the kids, giggles from the ride goers and the fantastic stage performers getting young and old bopping along.

I’m really looking forward to another stellar event, where we can celebrate our achievements and ring in the New Year with friends and family.
