GO Family soccer program kicking off in Maribyrnong

Council is introducing our newest Active Maribyrnong initiative: GO Family – an innovative six-week program designed for families to get active together through football (soccer).

By focusing on pressure-free movement and connection, the program welcomes individuals of all abilities to come together and experience the sport.

Local football clubs (Maribyrnong Swifts FC, Yarraville Glory FC and Footscray Rangers United) will lead the program at various locations throughout the municipality with the support of Council to maximise opportunities for participation for our local residents.

Enabled by funding secured through the Australian Sports Commission’s Play Well Participation Grant in May 2024, Council is proud to be the first in the state and nationwide to deliver the GO Family program.

To celebrate the program launch, Council is hosting a special launch event on Saturday 21 September, at RecWest in Braybrook. All community members are invited to join for a preview of the program’s offerings while enjoying a fun, family day out.

Following the launch event, the program will run weekly from 8 October to 14 November, with sessions available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
