This year, in line with our commitment to fostering safe and inclusive communities, Council is hosting a series of initiatives in support of the annual international campaign – 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.

The campaign will run from 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, through to 10 December, which marks Human Rights Day.

16 Days of Activism aims to raise awareness of the impact of gender-based violence on an individual’s physical, psychological, and social wellbeing, while also promoting global movements working toward its eradication.

City of Maribyrnong Mayor, Cr Pradeep Tiwari said as a Council, Maribyrnong is deeply committed to fostering safe and inclusive communities.

"16 Days of Activism is not just about raising awareness – it is about action. Gender-based violence has a profound impact on individuals and our society as a whole. This campaign provides an opportunity to not only reflect on the changes needed but also to take concrete steps toward creating safer, more respectful communities. Together, we can make a difference," said Mayor Tiwari.
