A drive-through COVID testing facility is being set up in the Shorten Reserve carpark off Market Street in West Footscray.
This facility is being established by the Department of Health and Human Sciences (DHHS) to replace the Bunnings West Footscray facility, which will close at 5pm on Friday 30 October 2020 as the store moves to reopen following an easing of restrictions.
This new drive-through facility will operate from 9am until 5pm Monday to Sunday, and will provide an opportunity for members of our community to be tested quickly should they need.
While the facility will take up a portion of the car park, there will still be a limited number of carparks available beside the pavilion. Alternative car parking is available around the surrounding streets and at RecWest Footscray (see map below). Shorten Reserve and the playground will still be available for use by the community during this time.
As a community we have been standing strong – wearing masks, maintaining our distance, and maintaining good hand hygiene – in a bid to combat this virus. By hosting this testing facility we are continuing to support the global effort to bring numbers down and return to a COVID normal.
The COVID-19 testing facility will maintain stringent infection control standards and be cordoned off to the general public. Every person tested is required to return home immediately after their test and avoid public areas until they have been cleared.
