Friday Nights In Footscray Exhibition - Call for Submissions

Council, in collaboration with the Footscray Historical Society, is curating a mixed media exhibition titled ‘Friday Nights in Footscray’ and we need your help.

We are seeking photographs, film footage and archival material (e.g. film or dance programs, postcards etc.) that tells the story of the many night time attractions of Footscray - ballrooms, picture theatres, pubs, clubs and popular late night merchants) during the post-war period (1950's - 1980's). Please note your submissions may be featured at our exhibition taking place in 2025 in Footscray.

A preliminary list of local venues can be found below, but we would be interested in any archival material that tells the story of the vibrant night life of Footscray during this period.

The submission form provides for up to four images to be submitted. Select the "Add next" button when submitting multiple images.

To give context to your image please provide a brief description in the area provided along with an approximate year of when the image was taken and if known its source.

If your image exceeds the allowable maximumS file size in the submission form below, please contact us for an alternative method for you to send in your submission.
