Blacksmiths Festival 300x200 v2.jpg

The biennial Blacksmiths Festival returns to Footscray from 17-18 May 2025 for its sixth edition.

The festival features metal forging classes and displays involving coke fires, gas furnaces, hammers, anvils and the display and sale of hand-crafted metal art sculptures. Marvel as blacksmiths work together to create a group sculpture or enjoy the forged art exhibition called the ‘150 mm challenge’ on display.

There are 'taster' sessions for beginners and a special fire-free kids zone for ages 5-12 to cold forge small items under the guidance of experienced blacksmiths. Live music and quality food and drinks complete this boutique and unique festival on the banks of the Maribyrnong River.

Blacksmiths Festival 2025 is proudly supported by Council's Signature Festivals and Activations Grants Program and received funding from the Victorian Government through the West Gate Tunnel Project’s West Gate Neighbourhood Fund.
