Active Maribyrnong is proud to announce that we have secured funding from the Change Our Game - Community Activation Grant 23/24 to launch our new Empower Her Ride program. This exciting initiative is designed specifically for multicultural women within Maribyrnong and aims to make riding accessible and enjoyable for women from diverse backgrounds in collaboration with Community Bike Hub.

What is Empower Her Ride?

Empower Her Ride is a comprehensive learn-to-ride program tailored for multicultural women. Our program goes beyond teaching the technical skills of riding a bicycle, it’s about fostering a sense of community, building confidence and encouraging independence among participants.

Program Highlights:

  • Skill Development: Learn the fundamentals of riding, from basic bike handling to safe riding practices, in a supportive and structured environment.
  • Community Building: Connect with other women in the program to create lasting friendships and support networks.
  • Confidence & Independence: Gain the skills and self-assurance needed to enjoy riding as a means of transportation, exercise and leisure.

Why Empower Her Ride Matters:

This initiative is vital for increasing participation among women and girls in the Maribyrnong community. By providing a welcoming and inclusive space, we aim to break down barriers and encourage more women from diverse cultural backgrounds to engage in riding. The Empower Her Ride program will be a hub for learning, empowerment and connection, contributing to a more active and connected community.
