Refugee Week

We stand #WithRefugees this Refugee Week

Each June, people across Australia will celebrate Refugee Week, which aims to raise awareness about the issues affecting refugees.

In 2005, the City of Maribyrnong officially became a Refugee Welcome Zone when Council made a commitment to welcome refugees into the community.

A ‘Refugee’ is a person; boy, girl, woman or man. Not a label, but a human being with a beating heart. And the refugee experience can be prolonged. Today there are more refugees than ever, and only by standing together #WithRefugees can we begin to change this.

Visit the Refugee Council of Australia for more information.
