National Reconciliation Week 2024 in Maribyrnong will open by bringing people together for a Welcome to Country, followed by a smoking ceremony and a yarning circle, led by traditional owner Robert Ogden, a proud Bunurong/Pakana man, on the grounds of Maidstone Community Centre.
Experience the powerful cultural practice of Australia's First Peoples with a traditional smoking ceremony to purify the space of bad spirits and promote the wellbeing of our people and guests on Country.
Following, Mr. Ogden will facilitate a yarning circle, where people come together to talk or ‘yarn’. A safe and welcoming space, the yarning circle invites the local community to join in respectful and inclusive dialogue.
This free, inclusive event offers an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Australia’s national story.
Bookings are not required and all are welcome.
