What data is being captured?

This counter collects two types of qualitative data on the movement of cyclists and pedestrians along the cycle lane and footpath: 

1. Total numbers (aggregated in 60-minute time intervals), and

2. Direction of travel.

Why this location?

This cycle lane and footpath is a key connection between western suburbs to Footscray, and further, into Melbourne CBD. 

This sensor, used in combination with other counters at West Footscray and Footscray, can provide additional insights to Council into cycling and pedestrian patterns.  

These data trends on the busiest areas of our cycle network can help decision-making on infrastructure solutions.
