This counter collects two types of qualitative data on the movement of cyclists through this area: 

1. Total numbers (aggregated in 60-minute time intervals), and

2. Direction of travel. 

Why this location?

This data provides evidence-based insights into how cyclists are using this area. 

This section of road is a key commuter route to and from Melbourne CBD.  This sensor, used in combination with the counter on Parker Street, can provide additional insights to Council including how many cyclists transit through here.

Data trends on the busiest areas of our cycle network can help decision-making on infrastructure solutions.
