Apply for a door-to-door fundraising permit
Council encourages fundraising that cares for the community’s needs and free permits are granted for the purpose of attracting donations door-to-door.
To accommodate the large number of organisations requesting permits, each approved charity organisation is granted two permits per year.
How to apply for a permit
Download the application form at the bottom of this page and submit your completed forms with the following documents attached:
- A copy of Department of Justice of Victoria ‘Application for urgent fundraiser registration under the Fundraising Act 1998’.
- A copy of current public liability insurance for the amount of a minimum of $10 million from the fundraising organisation. ‘Maribyrnong City Council’ must be noted on the policy under interested party.
- A letter of authorisation to collect on behalf of primary fundraising organisation (organisation letterhead required).
Door-to-door fundraising permit conditions
Permits are subject to the following conditions:
- Your volunteers wear proper identification name tags that clearly identifies themselves and your organisation.
- Your volunteers must observe any instruction given by a member of the Victoria Police or an Authorised Council Officer.
- Your collectors immediately leave premises if and when requested to do so by the owner or occupier.
- A hard copy of this permit must be produced to a member of the Victoria Police or an Authorised Council Officer when requested.
Note: This permit is restricted to residential premises only, it does not allow or authorise collections to be conducted on roads or at intersections.
