Amendment C181 - Removal of interim Heritage Overlay
Interim Heritage Overlay controls have been removed from eight precincts in West Footscray, Footscray and Maidstone.
Background
The interim controls were introduced in December 2021 to eight precincts identified as locally significant in the West Footscray Inter-war and Post-war Heritage Precinct Study 2021. The purpose of the interim controls was to provide temporary protection in the planning scheme during the process to consider permanent controls under Amendment C172. They were due to expire on 27 November 2023.
Council resolved to abandon Amendment C172 on 20 June 2023. As the process to consider permanent controls has now concluded, a request was made to the Minister for Planning to expedite the removal of the redundant interim controls through Amendment C181 to the Maribyrnong Planning Scheme.
The Minister has approved Amendment C181 and it came into effect on 17 August 2023. This means the interim controls have now been removed from all affected properties in the eight precincts.
