Application for Asset Protection Permit
An Asset Protection Permit is required for any work on your property that requires a building permit.
The permit holder is liable for the repair costs for any damage to footpaths, kerbs, roads, vehicle crossings, nature strips and/or street trees.
The Permit is valid for 24 months from date of issue.
Application Process
Contact your private building surveyor and confirm that the Section 30 has been lodged with Council. A permit will not be issued if a Section 30 has not been lodged with Council.
Once a Section 30 has been received, an Application for Asset Protection Permit is automatically sent to the Building Permit applicant/property owner by Council. Once the application is lodged with Council and the non-refundable fees paid in full, a site inspection will be arranged.
Following the site inspection an Asset Protection Permit will be issued outlining all applicable conditions.
Please note that Applications for an Asset Protection Permit must be lodged with Council seven clear working days prior to any building works commencing. Penalties can apply.
Permit Fees
An application fee is payable in full and is non-refundable which must be paid prior to the issue of an Asset Protection Permit.
A minimum bond is also payable in full prior to the issue of an Asset Protection Permit.
Asset Protection Permit Conditions
Clause 29 of the Maribyrnong City Council General Purposes Local Law outlines the conditions that must be met prior to the commencement of any building works. Clause 29 also prescribes penalties that may apply for non-compliance.
