Parking Permits

On 10 June 2014 Council approved the implementation of the Residential Parking Permit Policy 2014. A further review resulted in changes to some aspects of the policy which were endorsed by Council on 15 December 2015.

The changes to the Policy are as follows:

This information sheet provides an overview of the policy to assist residents in confirming their eligibility for parking permits.

Payment Options

  • Send completed application with your “not negotiable” cheque or money order (do not send cash) to: Maribyrnong City council, P.O. Box 58, Footscray Vic 3011
  • In person at Municipal Offices, Cnr. Napier & Hyde Sts, Footscray Vic 3011. Cash or credit cards (Visa / Master cards) accepted

** Electronic payment options such as credit and debit card and BPay are currently under review, we will advise as soon as it becomes available.

Transitional parking permits

Cost: Free
If you are applying for a new residential parking permit, you may be entitled to a transitional vehicle specific parking permit, which can be used while your permit application is being processed. You must provide details of the applicant, the residential address, vehicle registration number, vehicle make and type, and contact phone number.

Tradesperson Parking Permits

Tradesperson Parking Permits are issued to residents for temporary use by trades persons conducting maintenance work at the residents’ private address. Permits must be obtained and clearly displayed in the relevant vehicles for the applicable concessions to apply.

The maximum permits issued per year is four (4) and the cost is $10 per permit per week.

Renewing your parking permits

If you are a holder of a Maribyrnong Council residential parking permit, or a disabled parking permit, Council will send you a permit renewal notice in the mail, one month before the expiry date, including information about how to re-apply.

If you have an expired permit, please contact Council immediately to renew your permit. Infringement notices will be issued to vehicles displaying an expired permit.

Carer Parking Permit

Carer Parking Permits are issued to residents who have a registered Carer. The resident can apply for a free Carer Permit for use by their Carer while attending the resident's private address.
