MAC Senior Strength Training Program

The Senior Strength Training Program is based on principles from the Living Longer Living Stronger (LLLS) program, an initiative of the Council On The Ageing (COTA). The program aims to provide opportunities for older adults to engage in local, affordable, and sociable strength training programs. Maribyrnong Aquatic Centre is an endorsed partner and provider of this program.

MAC Living Longer Living Stronger Program Provides:

  • Individual assessment and strength training for all abilities and fitness goals
  • Progressive weight resistance training
  • Exercise in a supervised gymnasium using individually tailored programs Monday to Friday from 7:30am - 3pm and full access during the weekends and public holidays.
  • Access to mall classes during your access times, including:
  • The Seniors Strength and Movement Class on Wednesdays at 8.30am - a weights based group fitness class aimed at providing a supervised introduction and on-going avenue to resistance training and;
  • Different style aqua classes such as "gentle" and "aqua lo" scheduled at various times from 9am to 3pm throughout the week

NOTE: Seniors now have access to all group exercise classes during your access times.

Older Adults Program Membership

This membership is available for seniors with a valid Seniors Card, or Aged Pension Card.
Enrolling in this program enables access to the gym to facilitate a program similar to the COTA Living Longer Living Stronger Strength Training Program.

Access to the health club, pool sauna, spa and steam room is between 7.30am-3pm Monday to Friday and full access on the weekends and on public holidays.

In addition, you have access to some great group exercise classes suited to older adults. These range form dry based strength classes to Aqua classes.

New in 2015: Seniors now have access to all group exercise classes throughout your access times of : Monday to Friday between 7:30am - 3pm and all classes on weekends and public holidays.
