Rubbish Tips/ Waste Disposal

There are rubbish tips and waste disposal facilities located in municipalities adjoining the City of Maribyrnong. As prices are subject to change, please check with each facility beforehand. Pensioner discounts are available at some sites.

Also check other options for recycling and waste disposal.

  • Recyclables accepted for free include: aluminium (cans, pots, pans and window frames), car and hand held batteries, cardboard, paper, commingles (codes 1-7 as per your yellow recycle bin), cooking oil, engine oil (20 litre limit), e-waste (computers, printers, printer cartridges, cameras, faxes, telephones, mobile phones and accessories, TVs) fluorescent tubes and CFL’s; Polystyrene; steel and metal (guttering, appliances, whitegoods, roofing and bikes), textiles (shoes and clothing),
  • Items accepted for a fee include hard rubbish, tree pruning, garden rubbish and green waste, furniture items, timber and fencing, mattresses, tyres, gas bottles.
  • The tip does not accept chemicals, asbestos or building material

Citywide Transfer Station

This is a transfer station for food and residential waste only.

The transfer station does not accept Chemicals, asbestos, and paint.

Wyndham Landfill

The Transfer Station is open to the public and, at a cost, allows residents to drop off green waste, items for recycling, items for the Resale Shed and waste. Residents are welcome to browse the Resale Shed and purchase second hand goods.

  • Construction and demolition solid inert waste (eg. concrete, bricks, rubble, plastic, hard dry wood, scrap metal)
  • Commercial/Industrial solid inert waste (eg scrap metal, paper, cardboard, plastic)
  • Cleanfill
  • Tyres (if shredded and particle size is less than 250mm in all directions)
  • Industrial Waste (must meet industrial waste limits specified in EPA publication IWRG 631 and must be pre-approved) Waste oil

Melbourne City Recycling

Melbourne City Recycling, a new ‘one of a kind’ indoor recycling and waste facility just 10 minutes from the CBD is now open and wants your waste.
