Machine Imagining is an arts project inviting the Maribyrnong community to explore the natural world in collaboration with machine intelligence.
Through a series of free workshops with artist Kate Geck in January and February 2023, you will be invited to draw creatures from the local area - plants, animals and insects.
You can also collect found natural objects (such as leaves and flowers) and we will photograph them.
You are invited to attend one, two, three, or all of the workshops!
The drawings and photos that you create will be used to produce a community database of observations of the local, natural world.
These datasets will then be used to train machine learning models to generate new, machine imaginings of the Maribyrnong area.
The machine imaginings will be arranged through collage into large hanging textiles, and finally will be finished with hand embroidery.
Stay connected with Arts & Culture Maribyrnong via the ArtBytes newsletter to participate in future Machine Imaginings workshops scheduled for 2023.
